The Allan Labor Government and Victorian Veterans Council are strengthening support for the veteran community with funding to honour their service, protect their legacy and promote wellbeing.
Minister for Veterans Natalie Suleyman and Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant recently announced the recipients of this year’s Anzac Day Proceeds Fund and Victoria Remembers programs – providing more than $1.5 million in funding to deliver vital support to veterans and their families across the state.
More than $410,000 provided through the Victoria Remembers Grant Program will fund 27 projects with grants of up to $30,000 to support commemorative events, new memorials and education projects.
The Borough of Queenscliffe will use their funding to support their Anzac Day commemorative services in the Borough of Queenscliffe.
Ballarat Veterans Assistance Centre will use its funding to showcase the experiences and personal stories of veterans from across the Goldfields region. The “Meet Your Veterans” photo exhibition will celebrate the diversity of the veteran community and encourage open conversation between veterans and the public.
The Anzac Day Proceeds Fund delivers more than $1.1 million to support 20 organisations delivering welfare and wellbeing initiatives for veterans, with grants of up to $150,000 for statewide programs and up to $50,000 for local projects.
Among this year’s recipients is Vasey RSL Care’s STRIVE project. The 12-month program has been developed to address the interconnected needs of veterans, including wellbeing, resilience and social connection, and will be delivered at the V Centre in Ivanhoe which has been specifically adapted to serve at-risk and homeless veterans.
