Shared Trail To Boast Views Of The Bellarine

05 May 2023

The Andrews Labor Government is making sure that locals and visitors in Clifton Springs will be able to enjoy stunning views of the Bellarine by completing a trail that better connects to the foreshore.

The Beacon Point Shared Trail will connect the reserve to the coastline with 800 metres of shared path between the reserve and the beach.

Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant today marked the start of works of the Beacon Point Shared Trail - backed by $360,000 from the Regional Infrastructure Fund.

Signage, trail information and seating will be built along the path and native plants species will be planted to revegetate the area. This includes indigenous plant species identified as significant to First Nations peoples through the Cultural Heritage Management Plan.

The project is a key priority in the Beacon Point Reserve Master Plan and is being delivered by City of Greater Geelong.

The Regional Infrastructure Fund is part of the Labor Government’s flagship Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund. The fund backs key projects that help businesses create more jobs in regional Victoria and support community projects – from streetscape upgrades to brand new community facilities.

Since 2015, the fund has supported Victoria’s 48 rural and regional councils and businesses to kickstart over 1,000 projects that have created 13,000 jobs.

The fund is part of the Labor Government’s record investment of more than $36 billion in rural and regional Victoria since 2015. For more information, visit Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund rdv.vic.gov.au/rjif.
